Fund Raising Phase 3 is on !

Dear Friends,

We started the "Ranaviru Fund" in May 2008 to support disabled & wounded soldiers by providing Medical & Rehabilitation aid. We have provided 323 Socket Gel Liners for the amputees and 15 talking watches for the blind in two phases since the start of our project.

We have reached Phase 3 of the project now and are aiming to provide the following requirements for the wounded & disabled Soldiers.

Approximate cost of the equipments are as follows.

1. Stationary Defibrillator with built in Cardiac Monitor & Recorder£6,500
2. Portable Defibrillator with ECG£1,950
3. Blood Warmer £1,500
4. Extension tubes for Blood Warmer - 2,000£2,050
5. Socket Gel Liners - 1,000 £10,000

**Please note that the prices are provided as an indication only. The actual price we purcahse may vary than what's indicated above

It is required to provide 2 Gel Socks to a patient due to hygiene & practical reasons. These socks need to be washed everyday due to sweating and take up to 2 days to dry. We have provided only 323 Socks to-date through the fund.

Our aim is to provide the above requirements with a high priority for the Army Hospital as saving lives is second to none. We aim to raise enough funds for 1 Stationary Defibrillator, 1 Portable Defibrillator, 1 Blood Warmer and 1,000 Gel Socks during the Phase 3 of the project (by February 2009).

The Fund has made few inquiries in Sri Lanka & outside requesting quotations to supply, install & train staff for a Defibrillator+Monitor+Recorder and a Blood Warmer. Our preference will be given to suppliers in Sri Lanka due to Service & Warranty requirements. However, we would like to keep the options open until we receive all quotations. The cost details of the medical equipment are the best quoations we have received so far.

In providing Gel Socks, we are in a trusted relationship with Silipos UK having them as our supplier for Gel Socks at a special rate. An Ultra Cushion 5 Ply Gel Liner will cost just under £10 each.

We kindly request you to make your generous donations to our dedicated Bank Account directly (details can be found on the right side of the page) or via PayPal. To donate via PayPal using your Credit/Debit Card please click the "Donate" button on the top right hand side of the website. Please check Phase-3 updates for the list of donors, and the total amount of donations received under phase-3 so far.

Details of the Phase-1 donors and Phase-2 donors are listed in the blog by Name, Date & Location. We can produce the Bank Statements & Account Details if requested by the donors. Any money received by cash/cheque is credited to the dedicated Fund Account by individual donor's name.

We have our representatives in UK, Sri Lanka, USA, Canada, Singapore, Australia and the Middle-East as listed below. If anyone who would like to make a donation, but having problems in transferring the funds, please contact your nearest representative.

If you made a donation to our Bank Account directly or by Cash or Cheque to any of our representatives listed above, please inform us of the same by emailing us. This would help us to cross check your donation and confirm you of the receipt.

A full project report will be furnished to all donors at the completion of each phase. If you have donated during the last phase and have not received the Project Report, please email us and we'll send you a copy.

Phase 3 Fund Raising Updates

We have received donations from generous individuals listed below for the Phase 3 of the Fund Raising. We thank all of you for your support extended. Money received in the UK by Cash & Cheques are credited in to the Ranaviru Fund Account in names of individual donors. Donations made via Direct Bank Transfers will appear in the Bank Statements with donor's details. Funds received via PayPal would be credited to the Fund's Bank Account collectively to avoid PayPal charges as there is a fee for withdrawals under £50.00. Therefore, individual names will not appear in the Bank Statements. However, we can produce records from PayPal transactions if required/requested.

Gel Socks Donation Phase 2

[England, UK - 01 October 2008] With the success of ‘Gel Sock Project’ Phase one, a group of friends from England volunteered to join hands with ‘Ranaviru Fund’ and commence fund raising for the second phase. Within a period of three weeks we were able to raise £1660 and immediately placed an order with Silipos UK. We were able to purchase 150 Ultra Cushion Gel
Liners from sizes 2&3 purchase 15 talking watches.

Both Gel socks and watches were shipped to Colombo where Mr T Jagathsiri was due to collect and hand over the goods to ‘Ranaviru sevena’. There was no shipping cost as Tryco LTD offered their service free of charge. Mr Jagathsiri transferred the custody of the goods to Brigadier Dr (Mrs) S Varusavithana as the shipment didn’t arrive in Colombo during his stay in the country. Later, ‘Ranaviru Sevena’ confirmed and acknowledged receiving of Gel Socks and Watches.

Your contributions were invaluable for us to complete the second phase. Our brothers and sisters at the ‘Ranaviru sevena’ appreciate your gratitude more than you possibly could imagine.

VAT Component Refunded from Silipos

Silipos, our supplier of Socket Gel Liners has agreed to refund the VAT amount we paid when purchasing the initial stock in June 2008.

The amount reclaimed is approximately £261.90, which is enough for another 26 socks. This amount will remain in our account with Silipos as credit and can be used in future purchases.
